Randstad Edmonton Engineering is currently hiring a permanent Process Engineer, P.Eng for a family-owned agricultural solutions business that has brought world-class science and engineering to the global marketplace specializing in the innovative development, registration, and marketing of crop protection products, seeds, and fertilizers providing effective solutions to some of farmers' significant problems including herbicide resistant weeds.

Responsibilities:

Development of Excel and Access tools
Manage improvement and reliability projects
Lead design of Plant process upgrades and expansions
Management of Process Safety & Reactive Chemical Program
Support the daily plant operations, maintenance and quality activities including equipment trouble shooting, process optimization and field inspections
Design and analyze findings from plant trials
Lead Process safety program by ensuring existing safety systems are tested and maintained and performing HAZOP and LOPA analysis on projects
Root Cause Investigation Leader for all Reliability, Process Safety, and potential Injury events
Develop alternatives and recommend design solutions, define scope and develop preliminary cost estimates and project economics
Develop, update, and maintain Standard Operating Conditions and Limits (SOCL’s)
Identify short and long term equipment improvement and replacement needs
Monitor unit KPI’s (catalyst, exchanger, machinery performance) to identify problems and opportunities in the operating units with the goal of continuously improving production, efficiency, cost and environmental performance
Support maintenance of Process Safety Information (PSI), including P&IDs and PFDs

Skills / Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering – Chemical or Mechanical
Masters Preferred, not required
Professional Engineer Designation or immediately eligible
Minimum 5 years’ work experience in chemical or process engineering role
Excellent interpersonal communication skills with key stakeholders
Proven experience in planning, problem solving and organizational skills
Working knowledge of SAP is considered an asset
Process modeling experience required
Strong organizational skill
Good communication skills to be able to communicate with all levels of people inside and outside organization
This position requires an understanding of the plant processes and operations along with utilization of engineering knowledge and common sense
Knowledge of process chemistry and project economics is required
Possess appropriate driving permit as required by provincial law and have a mechanically sound personal vehicle insured and registered
