Randstad is hiring on behalf of one of our most prestigious partnering companies, Alstom Transport, to work on the exciting LRT Project as a Production Technician. This is a very hands on role based out of Ottawa.

- Experienced with using hand and power tools is a MUST! ( comfortable with a drill and able to change a drill bit)
- Read electrical blueprints and schematics and have ability to comprehend work instructions.
-Perform all duties required in dismantling, repairing, rebuilding, installing and testing all transit car electrical systems and components
-Operate wire cutters/ strippers and mechanical tools for assembly of electrical parts with no defects
-Basic electrical experience ( reading basic wiring diagrams, wire stripping, crimping, connecting terminal boards, working with wiring harnesses)

NOTE: We do not work with live wires in the production process

* The Production Technician can create a footprint by becoming part of a new team and new exciting project for Alstom Transport in Canada that can lead to further permanent opportunities

* Proven experience with hand and power tools (ex. crimping, drills, torque wrench)
* Ability to read and interpret schematics and blueprints an asset
* Must demonstrate ability to measure accurately in both U.S. and metric systems and convert measurements

* Day shift hours are Monday to Friday ( 7am- 3.30pm)
* Also looking for people for evenings ( Outdoor Move Team)--> Should have outdoor experience working in all weather conditions ( Outdoor Move Team shift hours are 3pm- 11.30pm)
* Weekend shifts (for the months of Sept-Nov) three weekdays (Mon-Wed OR Wed-Fri) 7am-3:30am AND Saturday and Sunday 6:00am - 4:30pm (weekend days are a 10 hr shift)

* Flexibility is important- the shifts CAN change to either be longer, start earlier or end later, work on Saturdays from time to time which is fairly common
--> We look for people with lots of flexibility with ability to do overtime and can work up to 60 hours a week at times when needed.
* Can only take vacation or day off requests during the unpaid site shut down which will be the first week of August and week between Christmas and New Years.
