A well respected family owned and operated company that is looking for an Estimator who knows the ins and outs of both residential and commercial project estimation work, with experience at a general contractor. Upcoming projects include bespoke custom homes and commercial properties in the Kootenay region. The successful candidate will report directly to the Director of Estimating and work on contracts and change orders. Role Description:Scope - Full knowledge and understanding of the entire project scope, adept in reading and communicating all the drawings and design specs.Take Offs - Measure take off areas, complete checklists, get final approval prior to quoting. Budgets - Work with Client/Designer/Materials coordinator/Lead Carpenter to keep budgets on track.Quotes - Collect info from take off, request/organize quotes for a team sub trades of 10-15.Estimates - Prepare client project estimates, get final approval prior to release, administer revisions and make updates as necessary.Changing Orders - Prepare Change Orders and communicate results to Client, Designer, Materials coordinator, Project Lead and subtrades as necessary.Inspections - Communicate with lead carpenter and schedule building inspections as required.Daily Logs - Prepare daily log reports as often as possible to keep clients informed about your progress ontheir project in the office.Skill Requirements:Must have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.Strong problems solving, multi-tasking and organizational skills.Ability to work independently to gather, analyze and organize data, define problems and requirements,and recommending solutions.Ability and willingness to be flexible and adaptable to changing priorities.Proven ability to work effectively both independently and in a team based environment.Excellent IT skills.Project take off program experience is important to have.Qualification Requirements (Must Haves)Minimum 5 years of successful experience in estimating, specifically in residential and commercial construction for a general contractor.Post secondary degree or diploma in Construction Estimation or equivalent years of experience.Comprehensive knowledge of project tendering and construction processes.Comprehensive knowledge of commercial/residential construction industry and practices.Ability to read, understand and interpret technical drawings and specifications.Familiarity with current relevant technology.Desire to be part of a young innovative and entrepreneurial management team.Excellent interpersonal skills.Ethical and dependable by nature.Experience using Pro Core construction management software an asset.Randstad Professionals CanadaRandstad Canada is committed to building a diverse workforce reflective of the diversity of Canada.
