Are you an accounting/finance professional with experience supporting month end journal entries, financial analysis, and reporting activities? Do you have experience working in a large corporate setting, preferably in the financial services industry? Are you looking for an opportunity to further develop your experience in one of Canada's leading banks? If so we have an excellent opportunity for you!

We are currently looking for a Senior Accounting Analyst to corporate accounting and financial analysis activities for our client, one of Canada's big 5 banks, in their Downtown Toronto office. In this role you will work full time hours on a 6 month assignment, and earn a pay rate competitive within the industry. As a Senior Accounting Analyst you will be accountable to analyze and report on the financial performance of the Corporate pillar to support the month-end, quarter-end and year-end close process including management, regulatory and external reporting, as well as providing value added ideas, advice and recommendations on financial governance and regulatory matters including procedures to support decision making within Corporate NIX. Responsibilities will include but not be limited to the following:

Financial Analysis & Model Delivery
• Prepare results reporting documents and provide ongoing, timely and accurate analysis of financial results to support month-end and quarter-end close processes.
• Support month-end and quarter-end reporting packages and Financial Statements in accordance with IFRS; reviewing all information for reasonableness, escalating any areas of concern and making amendments, if necessary.
• Prepare and update process and control related documentation.

Risk Management, Control, and Financial Governance
• Manage group attestation for the validity of financial results and highlight significant information including variances and trends.
• Prepare journal entries for month-end close.
• Identify control risks and gaps; ensure appropriate action plans are in place to address the risk
• Provide information and support the process for internal (Corporate and SOX) and external audits, ensuring that requests are managed effectively and efficiently.
• Complete/support the regulatory and external reporting requirements ensuring accuracy and timeliness of information.

Client & Relationship Management
• Display and encourage appropriate high performance behaviours that reflect our culture of Being BMO
• Act as a subject matter expert to ensure financial information is reported completely and accurately.
• Build strong relationships and provide value add advice to ensure financial results are well understood.

Change & Innovation
• Optimize the use of new technology and information systems updates to improve processes and system efficiencies
• Support the operationalization of change initiatives to ensure optimal effectiveness and efficiency from a finance perspective.
• Collaborate with finance colleagues to support changes within the finance team

Additional:
• Identify design, process and other inefficiencies in the analysis and reporting delivery system and suggest improvement or new requirements.
• Review financial information prepared by others for reasonableness and flag areas of interest to appropriate stakeholders so that results are understood and opportunities and areas of concern are properly addressed in a timely manner.

Qualifications
Senior working level of knowledge (5+ years) in a professional/technical field and/or the organization’s operating procedures:
• Independently conducts moderately complex routine operations and maintenance support activities.
• Determines moderately complex customer requirements.
• Independently responds to moderately complex queries from internal customers.
• Assesses moderately complex customer requests against organization operating policies and procedures and regulatory guidelines and makes recommendations.
• Provides input into policy and procedure amendments.

Soft Skills
• Exhibits critical thinking skills, analytical and integrative skills
• Demonstrates solid communication skills (Both written and verbal
• Familiarity with structured and unstructured data sets and building financial models
• Possess knowledge of design and analysis methodologies to work in an agile environment
• Must have a bachelor’s degree or diploma in Finance/Business/Commerce, data sciences, engineering, or mathematics

* Completion of an accounting designation e.g. CA, CGA, CMA is an asset
