Software Development Manager

Our client in LONDON, ONTARIO is looking for a Software Development Manager to join their team on a permanent basis. This highly motivated candidate will have a passion for software, electrical and computer related technologies in modern vehicles. They will be driving continuous improvement initiatives in the Software Development team and supporting practices across the organization.

Required Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer, Software, or Electrical Engineering, or Computer Science
• Minimum 7 years’ experience managing a software development team, leading and managing teams or projects
• Minimum 5 years’ experience developing embedded software
• Demonstrated expertise with Agile/Scrum software development methodologies
• Experience with UML design and/or model driven development
• Experience with programming languages: C, C++, C#, Java, .NET, MATLAB, NI LabVIEW, Measurement Studio, MS Visual Studio, CodeWarrior Development Studio, Git, and Altassian

Preferred Qualifications
• Experience with Software Engineering Institute (SEI) Capability Maturity Model Integrated (CMMI) and IEEE 12207 for software engineering processes.
• Familiarity with web development platforms.
• Familiarity with common vehicle networks (CANbus, Ethernet, and RS232/422/48).

Job Responsibilities
• Lead and inspire a highly skilled, mixed discipline Software Engineering team
• Provide strong technical voice and vision regarding execution of current work and roadmap for the future
• Deliver innovative, industry leading technology and vehicle level solutions within a Research and Development environment
• Manage the team’s cost, schedule and scope performance
• Architect, document, deploy and manage a robust software development practice. Includes development and maintenance of necessary new processes, procedures, standards, training, and development tools.
• Ensure competiveness by developing Technology Roadmaps that demonstrate an awareness of industry trends, competitive gaps, and customer requirement trends.
• Demonstrate leadership capability in key areas including innovation, people and performance management, leading change and technical mentorship
• Engage and collaborate with all departments across the organization

Due to the nature of the position, successful applicants must meet all applicable security requirements of the Canadian Controlled Goods Program, including, but not limited to, the ability to obtain and maintain a Canadian government security clearance to secret level.
