Our valued client is currently seeking a System Verification & Automation Engineer on a permanent basis located in Kanata, Ontario. Our client is a leading manufacturer of SDN networking and security solutions for Tier 1 Carrier networks.

The Position

The System Verification team ensures quality, robustness, and usability of every feature included in
current and past releases of high performance network appliances.

Working closely with the design team, you will develop detailed test plans for verification of upcoming
releases while also executing existing test plans as part of regression.

Duties and Responsibilities

- Perform manual and automated testing on custom software to prepare for customer release. Testing will be a mix of new features and regression
- Contribute to automated test library and test frameworks. Manage automated test suites
- Build test plans for new releases based on a thorough understanding of the release feature requirements
- Document defects found during the verification cycle
- Work with designers to insure defects are well understood including the steps required to reproduce
- Retest defects as they are addressed
- Report on status including test plan execution progress towards the release goal
- Research and make recommendations on the selection process of new test equipment and software
- Continuously working to expand knowledge of the product to become more effective at verification

Skills Required

- Proven experience working in a test and verification team for network or network security products
- Strong working level knowledge of IP Networking, VLAN, TCP/UDP/ICMP, IPv4/IPv6
- Customer experience focused
- Experience with Python (2.7.x) ideally for automating tests and building test infrastructure
- Knowledge of the following API based formats; REST, XML, JSON
- Ability to clearly communicate in a team environment concerning design ideas, code structure, and test areas
- Experience working with source control (Git) / defect tracking (JIRA) and continuous integration systems (Jenkins)
- Adopt best practices when developing automation code including comment documentation, maintainability and data-driven development
- Familiar with Linux (Ubuntu/Debian)
- Ability to work independently, a quick learner, able to adapt to changing priorities
- Bash/NetConf/REST/JSON scripting experience is a plus
- Experience with Traffic generation tools such as Ixia IxNetwork and Spirent TestCenter
- Experience with tools such as TCPDump/PFRing, Wireshark, and iPerf3
- Excellent verbal communication skills
- Strong communication and presentation skills
- Excellent presentation, organizational and planning skills

Education & Experience

- Bachelor of Computer Science or Electrical Engineering
- 5+ years of verification experience including a wealth of experience with Ethernet switch product verification
- An understanding of various verification methodologies: object oriented programming, whitebox/ black-box, directed/random testing, coverage
