Our client is seeking a Technical Architect consultant on contract for a period of 12 months with possible extension in Edmonton, Alberta to join a growing department.

As the ideal candidate you will be responsible for but not limited to the following:

Stakeholder Analysis

• Engage these stakeholders to develop analysis and design overall architecture: Architectural Design, Development and Deployment

• Responsible for the architectural design, development and supporting the deployment of the program

• Define system solutions based on existing business analysis, BIA and external manufacturer documentation on cloud-based control systems;

• Define required integration with existing applications, systems— based upon BIA’s provided by business analysts;

• Develops architectural documents, specifications and drawings, as required and

• Works closely with Program Manager

Technical Requirements

• Understands cloud-based deployed using Amazon Web Services (AWS) and IaaS (Infrastructure-as-a-Service) and PaaS (Platform-as-a-Service) supporting servers, data storage and application environments;

• Experience with SaaS (Software-as-a-Service) based applications, initial configuration, data management (JSON/XML) and analytics (ElasticSearch/Kibana);

• Technical experience spans across hardware, software and cloud-based environments to enable successful candidate to meet program technical
Supports BIA Workshops

• Supports any/all business impact assessment (BIA) regarding design, development and deployment

Test Planning & Verification Test

• Based on Integrated Test Plan from the Test Manager:

o Develops scope, test techniques and tasks; o Pass/fail and test suspension criteria;
o Environment and data test requirements and
o Test requirements for KPI/metrics of “controls”system.

• Supports and facilitates acceptance testing with the technical team. Support business participation in system testing, identify and document detects, re-test (if needed) and report all defects during testing;

• Verify corrective and preventative actions as provided by manufacturers and

• Secure business sign-off for initial acceptance and final acceptance (as needed).

Project Competencies

The successful candidate should have:

• Extensive experience in taking program requirements to create an architecture vision to support program goals and objectives;

• Demonstrated collaboration with a large number of stakeholders (> 50) to ensure a high standard of technical excellence is maintained and timely recommendations are made for the most effective application of technology to meet quality objectives;

• Understanding of business issues and the data challenges of cloud-based solutions.

• Proactive, forward-leaning self-starter, able to work in a fast-paced organization spread across diverse technical areas using an Agile/Lean methodology;

• Understands how to communicate difficult/sensitive information tactfully.

Technical Understanding

• Strong technical background with demonstrated technical aptitude in order to quickly understand new technical concepts to communicate effectively to non-technical people via discussions, brown bag sessions, white papers, and visual diagrams;

Leadership

• Extensive experience in the coordination of program and project leaders to identify requirements for design architecture.

Collaboration

• Develops relationships with stakeholders that foster collaborative approach.

• Communicates effectively to identify needs and evaluate alternative business solutions.

• Manages stakeholder expectations effectively.

Must Haves

The qualified candidate will possess these skills and qualifications:

• Master’s degree in technical field, such as Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or related field from an accredited institution is required;

• At least ten (10) years of demonstrated experience as a systems analyst or architect working on enterprise, regional or division-level solutions;

• Three (3) years of experience and knowledge with Cloud technologies (Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services, IBM Cloud and System Services) on private, public or community clouds. Five (5) years of experience with emerging technology, like IaaS, PaaS and with SaaS in the design, development, test and deployment of applications;

• Proven experience documenting existing business process, use cases, developing new processes using Microsoft Visio is required;

• Experience working with SOAP/XML over HTTP, MQTT (ISO/IEC PRF 20922), OTA, JSON, XML, HTTPS, IEEE 802.11* and LTE communication is necessary;

• Experience using Microsoft Office (Excel, Word and PowerPoint) and G-Suite (Gmail, Docs, Sheets, Calendar, Slides, Drive and Sites) is required;

• Demonstrated experience working on in a team environment, with tight time lines and on medium to large projects is required.

Nice to Haves

Candidates with these skills and qualifications are desired:

• TOGF and IIBA certification is preferred.

• Experience with BPMN (Business Process Model and Notation); specifically using pool, lanes and tasks within collaboration diagrams, building activity descriptions and using gateways, events, transactions, data and choreographies;
