Web Designer
Toronto or Kitchener (PREFERRED)


• Responsible for executing stunning front end design work, including creating visual mockups for static and dynamic pages
• Develops site design by coordinating with UX specialists, copywriters, content publishers, developers and business stakeholders
• Designs engaging interactive experiences including the selection or creation of imagery and animation
• Lead design review sessions with project teams, acquiring consensus and approval
• Create final visual mockups against wireframes, in keeping with client's brand standards, UX guidelines and accessibility legislation (AODA/WCAG)
• Provide final design assets and documentation to the development team; liaise and support development team to the ensure final output matches the
intended visual design
• Collaborates with other web designers & the UX team in the latest technologies and trends for efficient and aesthetically pleasing web design, as well as the development of client's internal digital style guide and design processes Requirements
• Diploma or degree in Graphic or Web Design, Visual Communications or equivalent
• A superb creative portfolio that demonstrates a variety of work in different styles
• Minimum 4 years’ experience in web and graphic design • Strong visual eye and attention to detail
• Highly proficient with design and prototyping tools such as Sketch, Photoshop, Illustrator, Principle, InVision, Zeplin
• Strong knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, front-end frameworks (e.g. Bootstrap) and other technologies -- although this is not a web development role
• A continual energy and enthusiasm for exploring the latest web technology trends and design techniques to evolve your skillset and work you produce • Solid communication skills - ability to effectively communicate design concepts and decisions

• Nice to have: ability to write content, and/or French language capability

Managers Notes:

Who will they report to (title)? Director, UX, with additional reporting to the project lead/product owner; this project will be run as a "pod" (like an Agile team)

Will they be directly managing anyone? If so, what titles and how many people? No

What software / hardware / methodologies will they need to have experience with? Sketch, Adobe CC, Mac OS, responsive web design, Agile development methodology, Adobe Experience Manager knowledge definitely an asset (failing AEM, other content management systems)

Any certain education required (i.e. computer science degree, business degree, etc.) No, industry experience and quality of portfolio are more important.

Is there a possibility of extension or moving to FTE? Yes, strong probability of extension, and possible conversion to FTE

Is working from home permitted? Yes, 1x per week

Is OT required? Only very occasionally, depending on volume of work

Can you tell us anything specifically about the project(s) the candidate will be working on? Consumer-focussed insurance/group benefits websites

Does your candidate need to be fully bilingual in French and English? No, although French-language skills are useful --- Waterloo candidates preferred but Toronto is okay too. Please include candidate location on resume.
