Job Title: Catering Assistant
Pay Rate: £10.70/h (overtime rates can range from £9.55 - 19.59 depending on what shift you cover)
Shift: Variety of shifts available including morning, afternoon, evening and night shifts (overtime also available)
Length of contract: Ongoing

We are currently looking for Catering Assistants to join a Facilities team within East Sussex NHS trust to help provide a high standard of freshly cooked and balanced meals for our patients and staff in the hospital. Our Catering Assistants assist our Chefs with the preparation, cooking and serving of meals, as well as ensuring that the kitchen and catering areas meet operational hygiene standards.
Within this position you will be required to carry out the following duties;
Be able to work within a team as well as working on your own.
Have knowledge of basic food preparation.
Take orders from a higher member of the team.
Ensuring chefs are equipped with the food and tools they need.
General cleaning duties to keep the kitchen areas clean and hygienic.
Service of food to patients at designated times.
Helping the chef get ready for service by preparing food. Catering assistants may be expected to peel, trim or wash food so it is ready to be cooked.
Loading and unloading the dishwasher.
Helping to serve meals to patients.
Standard or enhanced DBS required (for an immediate start)
Level 2 in Food and Hygiene
Hospital experience (desired)
