About the Role:
Middlesbrough Council is seeking experienced and dedicated Children's Social Workers to join our Multi-Agency Children's Hub (MACH) team. Although these positions are being advertised under the title Team Manager, this is strictly to reflect the pay rate offered. The actual role is that of a front-line Social Worker working within the MACH service.
Key Responsibilities:
Undertake the initial screening and triage of referrals into children's social care services.
Make decisions on the appropriate level of response using thresholds, policies, and safeguarding frameworks.
Liaise closely with multi-agency partners including the police, health, education, and voluntary sector to ensure timely and effective information sharing.
Assess and analyse information quickly to make defensible decisions about children's immediate needs and risks.
Provide written analysis and professional recommendations to inform decisions on safeguarding interventions.
Contribute to strategy discussions, child protection inquiries, and planning of appropriate interventions.
Maintain accurate, timely, and up-to-date case records using the council's case management system.
Attend and contribute to internal and multi-agency meetings as required.
Requirements:
Social Work qualification and registration with Social Work England.
Substantial post-qualifying experience in children's social care, preferably with MACH or similar referral and assessment experience.
Strong knowledge of safeguarding procedures, Working Together 2018 guidance, and thresholds of need.
Confident in decision-making under pressure and able to analyse complex information rapidly.
Experience working with multi-agency partners and managing professional relationships effectively.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
