Randstad are lucky enough to be working exclusively with a large new government organisation on a pivotal and senior role, General Manager Policy. This ministry are dedicated to making a real difference in New Zealanders lives and this is your opportunity to be part of it.

The purpose of this role is to provide inspirational leadership and management. You will have approximately 30 direct and indirect reports. You will be responsible for delivering a policy work programme to support investments. This will be done by empowering your staff and providing high quality advice across the business. This will be transformational, legislative and policy change and you will be leading it from the front. You’ll be part of a great leadership team, so bring your A-game to the table and be ready to contribute at a high level to the organisation.

The successful candidate will have:

  • A thorough understanding of policy development and analysis at a top level
  • Demonstrated leadership and people management experience
  • A strong understanding and working knowledge of NZ Government including knowledge of social policy and the issues faced
  • The ability to communicate complex legal and policy language to a wide range of audiences and able to analyse the issues
  • A relevant tertiary level degree is a must have
  • An understanding or ability to speak Te Reo Maori, Mandarin or Samoan would be desirable but not necessary

You will be able to communicate effectively with all levels of stakeholders and have excellent written and verbal communications. You will be able to demonstrate your analytical ability and thinking through experience in solving complex problems in a logical and constructive manner. You will be financially and risk aware and able to manage issues as the come up.
