**These positions will be based in both Grey Lynn AND Otahuhu, you must be able to work in both sites**

Police will be launching a new easy-to-remember police number for non-urgent police calls (to support the existing 111 emergency number). So we’re looking for our next batch of stars to get us started.

This is not your average call centre role, so we need above average people! You will be the voice of the Police, dealing with people who need assistance. You’ll never know what kind of call you might get so you’ll need to be able to think on your feet and deal with anything that comes your way.


A little more about the service the new non-emergency number will offer?

This number will support people who need police assistance in a non-emergency. Perhaps they have a query but don’t know where to start or who to speak to, or perhaps they need to report a crime which they think doesn’t need police attendance there and then. This new number will be the one number they can call as a first point of contact, available 24 hours, 7 days a week, 365 days of the year. In saying this however, every call is different and you need to be ready for anything. There may even be times you will need to deal with critical events or emergency situations.

The must haves:

  • Be either a New Zealand or Australian Citizen or a New Zealand Resident.
  • Confidence in the ability for you and your immediate family to pass comprehensive security and background checking.
  • Reliable transport to get to and from work for a 24/7 roster (Full license is not a must, but if you have a Restricted you need alternative plans for when you are working outside the hours of your license)
  • Typing speed of 40 words per minute (or more) with at least 96% accuracy.
  • Clean credit record, or a payment plan in place for a minor default.
  • Willingness to undertake a full medical assessment (at your own expense) to assess your suitability for the role.
  • Excellent verbal and written English skills
