Newly created Assistant Payroll Manager position for a leading global business services organisation. This role will focus on the management of weekly AUS & NZ payruns, leading a team of payroll administrators and contributing toward process improvements and other payroll projects. This is a full-time permanent position based in Sydney CBD, close to public transport. Flexible working from the office/ home is also offered. Key responsibilities Responsibility for leading a team of payroll administrators as well taking on responsibility for the whole payroll team in the absence of the Payroll Manager.Lead, coach and mentor your direct reports in regards to the monthly payment of salaries to all permanent Australian and New Zealand staff.Stay up to date with legislative and Award amendments and ensure they are communicated effectively and that staff are trained accordingly.Assist with the creation of all payroll and non-payroll invoices. Assist payroll manager with complex queries eg back pays, superannuation, month end.Calculation and payment of termination payments.Ensure payment of monthly, quarterly and annual commissions and bonuses, ensuring the correct tax treatment is appliedRespond to internal and external client/candidate enquiries in a professional and timely manner.Ensure the department achieves set weekly, monthly and yearly KPI’s.Responsible for the maintenance and compliance of the corporate payroll system (PayGlobal) as well as suggestions for future improvements. Desired key skills and prior experience: Prior team lead or management experience, ideally for 2+ employees .Demonstrated experience in interpretation of Modern awards and other Industrial Instruments.Solid understanding of payroll system functionality e.g. Payglobal or other well known australian payroll systems.Previous experience creating payroll and non-payroll invoices would be an advantage.Prior experience working within the labour hire industry would be beneficial but not essential.Experience programming or developing Time and Attendance systems and interpreting system results.Advanced Excel skills including Pivot Tables and Vlookups.
