For our international client, leading global aerospace and defence supply chain provider, we are looking for experienced candidates with big knowledge about trade and customs compliance. The company is broading own structures, Trade & Customs Compliance Lead is a new position within organization.

your tasks

To act as the Trade, Customs and Compliance subject matter expert regionally and be the primary reference for all import, export and regulatory matters. Develop, maintain and disseminate thorough and current knowledge of international trade laws and regulations applicable to business activity. Drive the development, implementation and governance of required International Trade process and policy to ensure full alignment with international legislation, pertinent to the import and export of Aerospace goods and associated technology. Align all processes, controls and policies with regional counterparts.

  • develop regional policy for Trade and Customs Compliance to achieve Import/Export regulatory adherence therefore minimising exposure to legislative penalty and any subsequent trading restrictions
  • embed business processes and control mechanisms to ensure the Value Stream organisation is conducting business legally and is able to maintain an efficient supply chain model within a controlled framework
  • regularly evaluate the Company's compliance status with regulatory bodies including Customs, national and international Export Control regulatory authorities and all applicable fiscal authorities
  • devise and deploy training programmes to all levels and areas of the business to drive a high state of awareness which further promotes the business as the market leader in supply chain logistics for both the civil and defence aerospace sectors
  • provide specialist support and guidance to senior executives for any new business initiatives or projects where regulatory controls have relevance in order to minimise any detrimental impact to long term strategy
  • publish regular communication to the business on the status of Trade and Customs Compliance activities so as to enforce the importance of regulatory adherence
  • hold operational responsibility for the management of import/export goods, the accurate processing of Customs formalities and maintenance of fully auditable records associated with the Company's bonded warehouse transactions, to ensure conformance with HMRC requirements
  • comply with all relevant internal rules, policy and procedures, including those relating to Health and Safety, Data Protection and all those contained within the issued Employee Handbook and Policies and Procedures Manual
  • undertake other duties and tasks that may be allocated that are appropriate to the job

what we expect

Abilities Skills and Knowledge

  • min. 3 years of experience on similar position
  • fluent English - is a must
  • IT literate and proficient in the use of MS Office suite
  • able to communicate effectively with all levels of management, functional staff and external governing bodies
  • strong analytical, negotiation, and influencing capabilities
  • planning and project management skills
  • able to lead and participate in a virtual team environment
  • use of AS400/mainframe system
  • use of bespoke external customs and export IT reporting tools (SPIRE, etc)
