Building & Construction
Sick of the 'blame-game' in construction?
As project manager you'll know far too well that the book stops with you. So what do you do when the estimator has priced the job wrong from the start? Suck it up and deliver is what your boss usually expects.
Well if you'd rather find a better solution and tell your boss to stuff the job where the son doesn't shine, we may have a job for you.
It's for a management contractor rather than a main contractor. You'll work in partnership with clients here rather than having to try and find every little angle to make sure the job makes money for your employer. Unforeseen problems in the ground? Not a battle here. Subcontractors gone bust? Not a battle here. Delays with design? Not a battle you'll fight here. You'll do the same job but all cost and earn a margin for your employer but all cost/profit will be sent back to the client. Does that mean you don't need to be profit and quality driven? Of course not.
You'll work mostly on residential, but not housing so you'll need construction experience. We're talking city centre Student Residential, Private Sale or Build to Rent apartment blocks. RC Frame, Steel Frame etc. The first job you'll deliver is a 270 unit Student Accommodation in Birmingham and all future jobs will be in the West Midlands.
As the Project Manager, you'll be the #1 on the job, reporting straight into the directors of the business who also operate under a open book culture. Team ethos is held in the highest regard for this business so you'll benefit from an approachable senior management team of people who know this industry and can support you.
So what do you think? Fancy a change from main contracting but still very much enjoy construction?
