We lose a construction worker to suicide every second day. Construction workers are six times more likely to die from suicide than an accident at work. For our young workers, the facts are that they are well over two times more likely to take their own lives than other young Australians. Established in 2008 to reduce the high level of suicide among Australian construction workers, MATES in Construction is a charity built on the concept of MATES looking out for MATES. Its award winning evidence-based suicide and mental health awareness program engages the entire workforce in providing mentally safer and healthier workplaces. As part of its vision of halving the number of construction workers lost to suicide over the next 10 years, MATES is currently seeking to appoint an experienced Field Officer to join the Sydney team. The key focus of the role is to deliver training at work sites and to provide personal support to construction industry workers across Sydney metro and regional NSW.
