We are seeking a passionate and experienced SEN Teaching Assistant (Level 1-2) to join our team in Darwen, where you will provide essential support to students aged 10-19 with complex needs, including Autism, Asperger's Syndrome, and related conditions.
The Role
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a critical role in supporting the learning, well-being, and development of our students. Working closely with the class teacher, you will help create and deliver personalised learning activities that foster independence, positive behaviour, and social and emotional growth in a safe, supportive environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with planning and evaluating lessons and activities.
- Provide regular feedback on student progress and achievements.
- Monitor and report on individual student development in line with school policies.
- Support behaviour management, adapting to each student's needs.
- Encourage social, emotional, and behavioural growth, in alignment with the school's curriculum.
Skills and Qualifications
- Experience working with children with Special Educational Needs (SEN).
- Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle (required for student transport).
- GCSE Maths and English (Grade C/Level 2 or above) - essential.
- Level 2 or higher qualification in Teaching and Learning Support (desirable).
- Strong knowledge of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
- Ability to adapt creatively and positively to meet the needs of individual students.
