We are seeking a passionate and experienced SEN Teaching Assistant (Level 1-2) to join our team in Darwen. You will support students aged 10-19 with a range of complex needs, including Autism, Asperger's Syndrome, and related conditions, helping them thrive in a supportive environment.
The Role
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will be a vital part of the team, helping to support the academic, social, and emotional development of our students. Working closely with the class teacher, you'll contribute to tailored learning activities that promote independence and positive behaviour.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the planning and evaluation of lessons and learning activities.
- Provide regular feedback on student progress and development.
- Monitor and report on individual students, ensuring compliance with school policies.
- Support behaviour management, adapting to meet the needs of each student.
- Encourage the social, emotional, and personal development of students.
Skills and Qualifications
- Experience working with children with Special Educational Needs (SEN).
- Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle (essential for student transport).
- GCSE Maths and English (Grade C/Level 2 or above) - essential.
- Level 2 qualification in Teaching and Learning Support (desirable).
- Strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection.
- Creative, adaptable, and able to tailor support to individual needs.
