We are looking for a dedicated and experienced SEN Teaching Assistant (Level 1-2) to join our team in Darwen, supporting students aged 10-19 with complex needs such as Autism, Asperger's Syndrome, and related conditions.
About the Role
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you'll play a key role in supporting our students' learning, development, and well-being within a safe, nurturing environment. You will work closely with the class teacher to deliver personalised learning activities and encourage independence, positive behaviour, and social and emotional development.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the planning and evaluation of learning activities.
- Provide feedback on students' progress and attainment.
- Monitor and report on student development, ensuring adherence to school policies.
- Support positive behaviour management, adapting approaches to suit individual needs.
- Encourage social, emotional, and behavioural growth in line with the school's curriculum.
Skills and Qualifications
- Experience working with children with Special Educational Needs (SEN).
- Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle (required for student transport on a rota basis).
- GCSE Maths and English (Grade C/Level 2 or above) - essential.
- Level 2 or above qualification in Teaching and Learning Support (desirable).
- Strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection principles.
- Ability to adapt creatively and positively to meet individual student needs.
