We are seeking an experienced UX Designer to fulfill a 1 year contract opportunity with a well established medical device manufacturing client of ours in the Vancouver area. The UX Designer will own the full-stack design process for new and existing features —from blue sky exploration to interaction wireframes to detailed UX specs. You will partner with Systems Leads and Clinical/ Marketing stakeholders to identify and filter user needs, formulating the creation of innovative products with a strong value proposition that you will drive through development and execution. Travel to clinical sites to interview end-users, demonstrate prototypes and observe clinical procedures.• Leverage Human Centered Design (HCD) evaluative and generative research methodologies to conduct user research that generates meaningful insights and inform the creation of new products.• Develop concepts and prototypes for the purposes of better understanding the product needs, testing hypotheses and the establishment of product requirements (from sketches to UX workflows, wireframes and interactive prototypes). Build a competency in rapid prototyping techniques.• Translate complex, high-level concepts into user flows, wireframes, mockups and interactive prototypes that lead to elegant and intuitive product experiences.• Participate (and sometimes lead) in all stages of the product development lifecycle.• Conduct user testing to refined and validate product concepts and prototypes.• Lead design reviews, communicate design concepts to key stakeholders, contribute to roadmap planning, andsprint planning.• Plan and Conduct HCD workshops focused on research planning, data synthesis, concept generation, or project alignment.• Be an organizational advocate for the design process and design thinkingQualifications• Masters, or bachelor’s required or years of professional experience in UX/Industrial Design, Design Research, Design Strategy or related field• 5+ years professional experience within a product development setting as a UX/Industrial Designer, UX Researcher, Design Researcher, Design Strategist or Service Designer• A professional portfolio demonstrating examples of end-to-end physical/digital product development• Ability to balance creating the ideal user experience with business goals and time to market• Knowledgeable in both evaluative and generative research methodologies that generate meaningful insights and actionable outcome• Thrive on ambiguity and connecting the dots others cannot see• Must advocate and be the voice of our users/customers• Demonstrate a strong visual thinking ability• Strong analytical, organizational, social, and diplomatic skills• Excellent oral and written communication skills as well as reading comprehension• A positive attitude, creative spirit, customer-focused driven, and the ability to give and receive creative feedback• Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and establish (and re-establish) priorities.
