Randstad Care has an exciting opportunity to work with an outstanding care provider in Highbridge, improving the lives of the service users and protecting them from risks to their health and welfare. Set in an idyllic location with on site parking, the shift patterns vary between 8 and 14 hours but there is flexibility in how many shifts you wish to work.

Job ResponsibilitiesDemonstrate ability to develop appropriate working relationships with service users, families and colleagues. Relationships will be based on respect, mutual trust, individual rights and cultural needs.Promote independence and enables service users to maintain existing skills and learn new skills as appropriate and communicate their needs.Undertake intimate personal care duties whilst respecting the rights and dignity of service users where required.Support service users' individual needs, dealing appropriately with challenging behaviour, physical disabilities and mental health needs.Demonstrate anti-discriminatory practice and is prepared to challenge discriminatory practice in the workplace.Offer strategies for development of social skills and helps resolve conflict as necessary.Keep Professional Boundaries in and outside of the work environment.To act as a role model at all times through appropriate behaviour, dress, use of language and social interaction.Contribute to the planning and assessment process - offer feedback, observations and suggestions.Provide appropriate support to service users within the context of the placement plan, seeking guidance from colleagues when complex needs or problems arise.Undertake housekeeping, food preparation and intimate personal care duties as necessary, enabling service users to be as self-managing as possible.Have due regard for safety of service users and others.Demonstrate ability to prioritise work and organise time to meet competing deadlines. Manages interruptions and keeps up to date with routine tasks.Communicate effective and sensitively, using appropriate mode of interaction and respecting confidentiality at all times.Actively listen, seek clarification as necessary and checks understanding.Take due account of any verbal or written instructions before undertaking care duties.Develop appropriate relationships with family members and significant others.Willing to assist colleagues to ensure effective service delivery within and outside the immediate team.Participate in House meetings and Team training.Be part of the shift pattern process and flexible within in reasonable boundaries.
Qualifications and ExperiencePrevious experience of at least 6 months, working with adults with challenging behaviour and educational needs.PMVA training preferred by not mandatory.Understanding and respect for rights of service users and carers.DBS on the update service or willing to obtain one.
