Calibration Inspector

PURPOSE:

To assist the quality engineer by taking an active role in the testing and quality assurance and the providence of statistical information for calibration of identified measuring equipment.

ACCOUNTABILITIES:



* Create and to verify calibration data sheets, for technical content and accuracy.
* Develop calibration procedures to meet the needs of the company.
* Complete all documentation associated with the position accurately and effectively while maintain the Quality Document Inspection (QDI) and Process Verification Inspection (PVI) ensuring a minimal discrepancy rate.
* Assist Quality Department in both investigation and analysis.
* Perform daily inspections/audits of shop floor calibrated tooling equipment to ensure compliance.
* Manage the master controlled measuring equipment to the UKAS National/International standard.
* Test, measure and record all site Orifice plates to the EUETS standard.
* Perform scheduled calibration on required items with minimal disruption to production.
* Control all calibrated equipment through registers, check sheets and sign off sheets.
* Carry out calibration on Items identified within the remit of the Calibration Technician.
* Organise out going Calibration on designated items.
* Purchase of new Calibration items and equipment, through the company request system.
* Ensure all documentation from externally calibrated or new equipment is correct and logged into S.A.P. /Register efficiently and accurately
* Control and improve the SAP and Lotus Notes databases currently live within the department, for traceability / trending, to ensure compliant to ISO9001: 2008 & TS16949 standards.
* Identify opportunities to make financial savings within the process, through reduction in operating costs or improved reliability/efficiency
* Carries out all activities as detailed in the Safety Annual Plan.

Skills & Knowledge:



* The jobholder must have strong technical and analytic skills. Preferably have a proven Engineering background and have a successful track record in developing structured technical processes and achieving challenging personal and department goals and objectives defined in OGSM.
* Knowledge of metrology practice and theories, Experience/Knowledge of calibration in test and measurement equipment used in conjunction with the repair and calibration of mechanical and dimensional equipment, Able to evaluate appropriate standards and scope of accreditation to determine the acceptability of current practices.
* Excellent communication skills.
* Experience of working within a Quality led environment would be an advantage.
