As the corporate communications manager, this role is pivotal in ensuring that the organisation effectively communicates with residents, stakeholders, the media and employees. The organisation we are recruiting for has a vision to combine a blend of innovation, aspiration and pragmatism when delivering local services, looking beyond the traditional ways of doing things and it has set itself an ambitious and challenging strategy aligned with the needs of its residents and local businesses. Managing a small team, you will be a key point of contact for day-to-day communications and an important liaison between the team and political and senior management teams. You will be a seasoned media and communications expert with experience of leading and developing a team of communications professionals. Articulate, upbeat and professional, you will be a key player in the evolving team at the heart of a busy organisation during an exciting period of change.

Key responsibilities;
*Support the head of corporate communications to develop and deliver an overall corporate communications approach in line with the business priorities and its strategic narrative, taking advantage of opportunities and new possibilities to protect and promote reputation.
*Develop and manage a team of communications professionals with a focus on increasing the level of proactive communications.
*Act as a key point of contact for all day-to-day corporate communications issues arising, monitoring potential issues that could impact the reputation of the organisation
*Build and maintain long-term relationships with the local media, broadening our links with print media, television and radio and further develop in-house video creation.
*Support crisis communications for general business, including out of hours as required.
*Oversee social media activity and act as online reputation guardian.
*Monitor reporting on media coverage and trend analysis.
*Approve press releases/statements in advance of sign off.
*Draft speeches as required.
*Ensure all incoming collateral adheres to the brand guidelines.
*Build and maintain relationships with internal service leads.
*Manage the development of an internal communications framework and approve internal stories in advance of sign off.
*Undertake a review of all communications processes and procedure.
*Authorise spending.

Key skills and experience;
To be considered for this opportunity, you will need to come from a communications background with a track- record of producing high-quality, informative publications to tight deadlines. You will need to be politically sensitive and be able to translate complex client briefs into clear deliverables.
Further skills and experience required for this opportunity are;
*Ability to balance demands from a variety of different sources.
*Strong writing skills with the ability to proof complex documents
*Minimum of 2 years experience in a similar role, ideally within the public or third sectors.
*Experience of working within a political environment.
*Previous experience of managing a communications team.
*Able to deliver quality outcomes, working with all types of media, including television and radio.
*Experience of delivering the communications aspects of fast-moving projects, including issues and crisis management.
*You will be educated to degree level in a relevant field and have an appropriate professional qualification
