Design and Development Manager

Are you a Design and Development Manager / Principle Electronics Engineer looking for a new position in the defence industry? Do you have experience working in electronic warfare market? If so then this position could be the one for you.

One of its principal activities is the design of innovative equipment for testing Electronic Warfare systems on military aircraft to ensure that they have fully functioning defensive aids before they venture into hostile airspace.

Due to the nature of the business you must hold a valid UK passport and be able to hold maximum UK security clearance.

The Position

The Design and Development Manger's role is to use these facilities to design and introduce new equipment in response to customer's needs and market opportunities. This will involve liaising with technical specialists in the user community. The Design and Development Manger will be required to take ideas from initial customer query or market opportunity to a set of detailed specifications ready for electronic, mechanical and software engineers to work on.

Key Tasks



* Generation of simple and complex radar signals in the 500 MHz to 40 GHz range
* Measurement of radar and radar-jamming signals
* Partially- and fully-automated testing of aircraft radar systems
* Generation of Ultra Violet and Infra Red signals that mimic missile signatures
* Generation of modulated IR laser beams

Desired Experience in the Following Areas



* RF signal generation - does not undertake anything but very basic RF PCB design)
* Multilayer PCB design
* basic optics
* firmware production (typically Atmel ATXMega programmed in C)
* software development (PC -based software typically written in C# plus some Labview)
* fabricated and milled metalwork
* 3D printed plastic parts
* EMC and mechanical qualification
