Job Title: Geotechnical Estimator/Engineer

Reports To: Estimating Manager - Specialist Geotechnics Division

Location: Offices at Leeds with occasional travel throughout the UK.

Description of the Role

My client are looking for an experienced Estimator to design (where applicable) price, negotiate and

secure work for the Geotechnics Business Unit.

As part of the role the employee will build relationships with existing and new customers and clients.

The role will require the tendering of all types of Geotechnical Works including:

* Ground Anchors
* Soil Nails
* Minipiles
* Grouting
* Environmental

Experience and Qualifications Required


* Civil Engineering / Geology related Degree.
* 3 years experience within the geotechnical subcontracting/consulting or construction
* environment with a basic understanding of grouting, ground anchors, minipiles and soil nails.
* IT literate particularly in Microsoft Office Suite (including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and
* Project)
* Good understanding of written English and good standard of letter writing
* Full UK driving licence.


* Further degree in geotechnical engineering/engineering geology
* Experience in civil engineering / building contracts
* Knowledge and application of geotechnical design software
* Experience in computer-aided design (CAD) systems
* Good presentation skills
* Chartered or working towards Chartership of a related professional body

Key Roles and Responsibilities

* Complete tender, budget and feasibility proposals and win work in line with agreed targets
* Attend pre and post tender meetings
* Actively follow up tender submissions and update enquiry handling system
* Maximise commercial potential by close liaison with other team members
* Understand and deliver customer requirements by both interrogating the tender documentation and seeking further necessary documentation as considered necessary

* Work with Design Team (internal/external) to optimise engineering solutions
* Complete risk analysis for each project and identifying high risks/concerns to senior management

* Liaise/hand over with contract engineers to ensure methodology and design of proposal is fully understood

* Ensure contract terms are reviewed by the division's QS
* Assist the contract staff during the works, as required, to ensure the client's expectations are met.

* Develop long lasting relationships with customers and key influencers to encourage repeat business opportunities.

* To take an active role in the promotion of the business to key clients and consulting engineers by means of lunchtime seminars etc.
