Planning Officer

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Planning Officer based in a Local Authority in East London.


Post: Planner

Rate: Circa £25 - £26 per hour

We are looking for an experienced Planning Officer to provide generalist support on all planning matters that meet the needs of council's multi-cultural communities.


The main duties of the role are as followings;



* Provide generalist support on all allocated planning work including carrying an appropriate case load ensuring that all work is undertaken in accordance with statutory requirements, the Council's policies and procedures and to the best professional standards for the benefit of the residents of the Borough.
* Where directed be responsible, with support, for leading on some appropriate elements, of planning work.
* Support the development and implementation of policies and procedures to ensure that the Planning and Building Control (P&BC) Service Plan is delivered within Corporate objectives.
* To provide support in the appointment and management of consultants undertaking commissions for the Directorate to ensure that all Council policies and financial and procurement regulations are fully met and complied with.
* Keep abreast of new European, Government policies, current ideas and developments in relation to all aspects of urban and regional planning.

Requirements



* Must have UK development management experience, be organised, motivated and able to deliver high quality services to a diverse community.
* A degree/post-graduate qualification in town planning (or similar) will be essential along with excellent communication skills.
