Planning Policy Officer

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Planning Policy Officer based in a Local Authority in South London.


Post: Planning Policy Officer

Rate: Circa £25 - £27 per hour

We are looking for an experienced Planning Policy Officer to manage and support projects with a focus on the production of the Local Plan and other spatial planning documents and projects on time, to a high quality and to budget, as set out in the Local Plan Programme. This includes the consultation, communication plans and activities needed for continuous engagement of interested parties in the Local Plan and any planning documents. To manage and support projects with a focus on fee-earning for Croydon Council in the field of spatial planning.


Already an up to date Local Plan, this is an exciting opportunity as the role will focus on its review taking account of one of the biggest growth agendas in London as outlined in the emerging London Plan and the considerable progress made with the delivery of the Local Plan 2018. The role also provides input to the Council's varied pre-planning application service and contributes to other regeneration projects. We are looking for a planning policy officer capable of working across these projects.

Requirements



* Relevant RTPI approved qualifications, skills, knowledge and competence in spatial planning to qualify for RTPI membership.
* Understanding of current issues & developments affecting planning, regeneration & local government in London
* Policy: understanding of main central government, strategic & development plan policy issues
* Law: understanding of spatial planning legislation
* Understanding of the operation of local government
