Are you a Quantity Surveyor looking for a new contract in Kent? We've just landed a new role which might be of interest?

* Location: Chatham, Kent
* Contract type: Freelance
* Sector: Main contractor
* Salary: up to £300 per day

The company:

Established in the mid-70's the employer are medium to small main contractor located in central Kent that specialise in working for local authorities, private client and house hold names delivering high-end new build and refurbishment projects on design & build basis. Projects typically include schools, residential (low-volume and bespoke) and commercial works.

The position:

* Working under the Commercial Director you will take the commercial lead on 1-2 projects ranging from £500,000 to £2 million in value.
* Working with The Estimators and Contracts Managers along with external Consultants, you be providing input in to design and programmes.
* Checking contracts compliance.
* Creating procurement schedules.
* Sending out tender documentation, analysis and selection.
* Value Engineering do drive profit margins.
* Preparation of monthly valuations, evaluation and preparation of variations.
* Management of subcontractor accounts which will include re-measuring subcontractor valuations / verifying subcontractors applications for payment.
* Identifying risk.
* Financial forecasting and reporting.
* Final accounting subcontractor and client.

About you:


* Educated to HNC as a minimum but a relevant degree and professional accreditation would be desirable.


* A minimum of 3 years experience in Quantity Surveying within a similar position.
* Strong negotiation skills.
* Previous experience of house building, refurbishment schemes as well as commercial projects is very desirable.

Skill sets:

* Excellent written and verbal interpersonal skills.
* Cost management (Estimating, Planning and Reporting).
