Residential House Manager

Hours: Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm + on call requirements 37.5 hrs per week

Reporting to: Regional Property Manager (Live in)

Salary : Basic £19000.00 - reviewed on successful completion of probation

** Please note this appointment is for a House Manager to reside within the retirement home. You will be provided with a fully paid for two bedroom apartment **

Job Description

We are currently recruiting for a Residential House Manager to work within a retirement home based in Yeovil. This position is customer focused, acting as a key focal point for all residence and guests. You will ensure the site remains safe, clean, well maintained in addition to overseeing the residence wellbeing.

Key Responsibilities

* The House Manager must ensure that the highest levels of customer care and service are maintained at all times (as far as practicable) - deliver a caring and efficient house manager service to the residents.

* Ensure effective security of residents and the building at all times - The House Manager should check and screen all visitors and guests and any contractor staff, ensuring they have permission to be present in the building

* Answering enquiries by telephone, email or callers to the office.
* Check in with all residents on a daily basis to ensure well-being - record and maintain residents register.
* Be alert and take the appropriate action in response to any ill-health - maintain contact with next of kin / emergency services
* Maintain all on site records of Doctors/Social Services, next of kin and all emergency contacts for all residents
* Ensure all communal areas and grounds are kept clean and tidy - Conduct daily general cleaning duties such as vacuuming, dusting and litter picking - ensuing all common areas remain clean, tidy and presentable at all times
* Maintain immediate grounds to ensure tidy and well presented - basic gardening and litter picking
* Correct reporting of any security/Health & Safety issues, incidents and complaints. Taking appropriate action in the event of an emergency - Where needed and appropriate, provide emergency help or assistance whilst summoning the relevant party such as doctor or emergency services
* Monitor and regularly check all emergency alarm systems - reporting any faults for repair
* Supervise the use of the guest room including booking and collection and safe keeping of charges, and organising the cleaning of the guest room
* Accurately maintain a daily log and report book of any site incidents or important information.
* Engage and encourage social activities with residents as required - enhance the residents experience
* Ensure all safety notices and applications are in place and report any deficiencies to the Property Manager.
* Conduct daily basic site inspections as directed by the Property Managers - Report any building or systems defects to the property manager immediately
* Maintain site petty cash and ensure reconciliation or outstanding payments
* Help provide support and advice to residents within your control or assist with relevant contact details or referrals
* Assist the Property manager to procure relief cover when needed for holiday or leave
* Provide general on site assistance to residents and visiting family when required
* Escalate any complex matters, complaints or issues to the dedicated Property Manager

Experience required:

* Proven House Manager experience or similar
* Previous experience of working within the residential care industry
* National wardens certificate course (Desirable)
* First Aid certificate
* Enhanced DBS checked (or willing to undergo)
* Customer focused, caring and approachable
* Professional, reliable and motivated
