    We are currently recruiting for a Housing Officer to come and join a fantastic team based out of Newport to start asap. This role would be predominantly working from home but you would be expected to go into the office for your first week for training.This role would be full time, 37 hours a week, Monday to Friday and would be until at the end of March 2022. Although a background in Housing would be desirable it is not essential but an eye for detail and administration experience is essential and you must have experience of dealing with customer investigations. Job ProfileContribute towards Welsh Government's long term strategy to prevent homelessnessTo administer the Tenancy Hardship Grant assisting clients to remain in their current accommodation in line with Welsh Government policy and procedure. Main DutiesTo assess eligibility of all Tenancy Hardship Grant applications made to Newport City Council and act as the single point of contact.To assess all evidence in relation to applications and make thorough and accurate investigations in line with Welsh Government guidanceTo take a proactive approach to the prevention of homelessness and work with all officers within the Housing Needs unit in this respect.Establish, maintain and develop close liaisons with Supporting People services for appropriate housing support referralsLiaise with landlords, Environmental Health, Housing Benefit and other relevant agencies as required by the roleTo process, verify and issue payments for all successful grant applicationsTo maintain accurate records, collate statistics and compile monthly data returns for Welsh GovernmentDetect, prevent and report fraudulent Tenancy hardship grant claims To have a working knowledge of the Debt Respite (Breathing Space) Scheme and Rent Smart Wales.If you feel you are right for the role and you have previous housing or benefit experience apply today!Randstad Business Support acts as an employment business when supplying temporary staff and as an employment agency when introducing candidates for permanent employment with a client.
