As you may already know, working with special educational needs students is a rewarding career in which you guide, support and comfort students who may find everyday tasks challenging.
This is a perfect opportunity for you to become the backbone of the classroom progression. You will be an expert for whizzing round the classroom to help your students in one to one sessions or groups to ease any frustration when it comes to barriers of learning. Furthermore, your energy and drive will inspire students to try their best at everything and not to give up. This job role is for a candidate who is passionate and enthusiastic to work in the SEN Sector.

A specialized school situated in the Haywards Heath area is looking for a teaching assistant who can join their thriving school and make a difference to their children.

This specialised school is a non-maintained special school designed to meet the educational, behavioural, care and therapeutic needs for children (age 6-13 years). The children have a range of special needs including Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) and Autistic Spectrum Conditions (ASC).

Your responsibilities will include:

Assist students during class making sure they are on track.
Liaise with class teacher to ensure a smooth running class.
Enabling learners to access the curriculum.
Support the pastoral needs of the learners.
Be an active part in setting the learning environment.
Supporting learners on a 1:1 base and part of a small group in a range of activities through out the day
Using your interests to engage learners in learning.

The ideal candidate may posses the following skills and capabilities:

Be able to work with learners that have various learning difficulties.
Have an understanding of the students with emotional needs.
Willingness to learn and build relationships with learners.
Be confident to support the lead in groups, in different educational subjects.
The ability to work as an individual and as a part of the team.
Be flexible in their approach to education.
