A leading, well established SEN School in Wakefield is looking to appoint a SEN Teaching Assistant on a long term contract basis, to provide essential and life-changing support to their pupils with learning difficulties. The successful applicant will be required to assist the class teacher with children with complex needs, supporting the students individually and in groups with core subjects, engaging with their work and keeping on task with their learning. The role may occasionally have aspects of personal care, supporting students with trips to the bathroom and supporting with life skills.

The role will include:
Providing assistance to the class teacher
Managing small groups of children independently
Working 1:1 with students to help develop their work
Supporting the general well-being of the students in the school
Monitoring and evaluating pupils' learning under the guidance of the teacher
Assisting the teachers in the use of relevant management strategies to ensure a purposeful environment for teaching and learning to take place

SEN TA experience in a Special Needs School is ideal
A desire to encourage children to succeed
A caring, patient and calm personality
The ability to work with students with a variety of learning difficulties
An understanding of children with special needs
A flexible approach to education
Moving and handling and hoist training is ideal
