Sensational new opportunity for a Senior Green Infrastructure Specialist / Biodiversity Specialist to join an expanding team of ecologists based in Nottingham!!!

A leading consultancy is seeking a Senior Green Infrastructure Specialist / Biodiversity Specialist consultant to strengthen the environment and planning, landscape, and environmental economics across the team and national teams, promoting collaboration between these disciplines in the context of sustainable development. You will be involved in projects relating to terrestrial, freshwater and marine habitats. The role requires knowledge and experience in biodiversity and green infrastructure planning, biodiversity net gain (including offsets), ecosystem services and natural capital, especially in relation to land-use and planning in the UK for infrastructure, commercial, power and other development projects.

Responsibilities:



* Working as part of the existing network of ecologists and forming a key link with our wider environment and planning teams and environmental economists in relation to green infrastructure, biodiversity net gain, ecosystem services and natural capital
* Supporting internal clients with assistance in the winning, delivery and management of the ecological requirements within multi-disciplinary tenders and projects
* Working independently, or with other ecologists and professionals, in the planning, delivery and management of impact assessment, the design and implementation of successful mitigation and compensation strategies for biodiversity, including approaches for delivering green infrastructure and net gain
* Assisting with managing the technical and financial performance of ecological and Environmental Impact Assessment projects
* Building and maintaining both internal and external client relationships, including providing response and / or advice in person, by email or over the phone in accordance with deadlines
* Communicating effectively with their line manager, project managers, clients, project teams and other members of the team, within projects and with clients by telephone, e-mail, letters and reports
* Developing and promoting best practice and innovation across the ecology business
* Compliance with internal business management procedures, including in relation to health and safety and technical quality of all advice and outputs; and development of the team to support wider environmental business goals, as required

Requirements:



* Have a recognised degree in an environmental or related discipline
* Have a thorough understanding and working knowledge of the planning system in the UK, and of current position with respect to policy and legislation relating to biodiversity, green infrastructure and emerging approaches for the assessment of ecosystem services, biodiversity net loss/gain, and natural capital
* Experience within a consultancy environment (or similar) in providing advice to clients and colleagues on the benefits and importance of biodiversity, green infrastructure, natural capital and ecosystem services
* Experience in the design and/or construction management on major infrastructure (particularly rail and road) projects in the UK
* Experience of influencing projects to deliver environmental outcomes, through engagement with project teams, clients and external stakeholders
* Demonstrable experience of technical and professional proficiency, evidenced by input to the delivery of projects to a high standard, on time and within budgets
* have a proven track record of providing biodiversity inputs to assessments, in accordance with the Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management (CIEEM) guidelines
* Experience of project management of ecological inputs to multidisciplinary schemes, including organisational skills and ability to coordinate technical inputs from across a number of disciplines
* Experience of reporting directly to internal and external clients
* Experience of working to create a positive team culture
* Ideally, you will have a full CIEEM membership (or equivalent) and Chartership
