Our client, a UK-headquartered leading global bank with universal coverage in banking products and services, is rolling out a new model of Transaction Monitoring Risk Assessment across all its global businesses. They are seeking someone with the gravitas, credibility, deep technical expertise and excellent stakeholder management & communication skills to front this process within the bank globally. You will lead a team of Financial Crime Compliance (FCC) and business transformation professionals to deliver an entirely new approach to Financial Crime Risk within the AML and CTF spaces. Sitting at the top end of "Vice President" towards "Senior Vice President" / "Executive Director" level, you will be the voice, eyes, ears and face of this transformational programme - reporting into the Global Head of Transaction Monitoring Oversight.


Customers / Stakeholders
- Work closely with the Global Compliance Function, Global Standards, Global Businesses and other Group Functions (e.g. Change, GRA) to help oversee and deliver an effective Transaction Monitoring Programme
- Use expertise and experience to help drive the direction of functional/geographic reports in the delivery of AML Transaction Monitoring.
- Input into detailed briefings and updates to the Group Head of AML and other members of Senior Group Management, ensuring that management is appropriately advised of material AML TM related issues.
- Help drive consistency in messaging throughout the organization and building a culture of transparency between AML compliance and the first line of Defence.
- Work closely with the Lines of Business, Regions and Change Team, to effectively communicate and provide transparency to their respective businesses over AML Risk associated with Transaction Monitoring.
- Respond swiftly and clearly to Group/ Senior Executive / Monitor evolving requests and requirements.

Leadership & Teamwork
- Act as day to day lead for TMRA, tracking the deployment of the risk assessment and problem solving to protect committed deployment dates;
- Ensure that Global AML TM teams work closely with relevant FCC and FCR functions (e.g. Financial Crime Threat Mitigation (FCTM), Chief Operating Officer (COO), Transformation, FCR Analytics, LOBs, and Regions to deliver TMRA
- Foster positive and professional working relationships with the business, Global Compliance function, GMO and other senior managers throughout the Group.
- Promote an atmosphere of collaboration not competition, both within the AML function and across to other functions/ partners, responsive to suggestions from other areas, regions and businesses.
- Play a key part in motivating and developing an effective team through support, management and communication. Cultivate an environment that supports diversity and reflects the bank's brand, thereby delivering high employee engagement and motivation.

Operational Effectiveness & Control
- Help to promote and take accountability for Transaction Monitoring AML governance, reporting and communication with regards to TMRA.
- Review and constructively challenge TM project / workstream status reports produced by the Transformation Team
- Captures key lessons learnt from Regions, countries and Change Activities and ensure that these are taken onboard by the Global AML function to drive the continuous improvement of AML TM Programme.
- Maintain awareness of operational risk within assigned portfolio and minimise the likelihood of it occurring including its identification, assessment, mitigation and control, loss identification and reporting.


- Strong understanding of how TM controls mitigate ML Risk and the various underpinning activities forming the TM programme within a large multinational banking context
- Professional with direct experience of AML, and good knowledge of AML typologies and their detection by TM
- Previous experience of FCC risk assessments, including modelling and data management, advantageous
- Good knowledge of Banking products in a large, universal bank: e.g. retail, corporate, investment and private banking.
- Preferred experience of working with large scale TM transformation initiatives (either as a stakeholder or part of the transformation teams) that have delivered changes and improvements to TM controls, including but not limited to upgrades and new systems, deployment of monitoring to new lines of business, product areas etc.
- Excellent oral, written communication and presentation skills, inter-personal skills and dealing with executives at all levels
- Proven ability to confidently work with and influence senior stakeholders and business sponsors.
- Proven ability to work across lines of business and regions whilst maintaining a global perspective
- Strong analytical, decision-making, lateral thinking skills, with demonstrated ability to identify links between programmes of work
