SHIFT COORDINATOR (inc Weekend Working)

The opportunity is for a Shift Coordinator at our Minworth Distribution Centre in Sutton Coldfield, West Midlands and is responsible for assisting, supporting and occasionally deputising for the Warehouse Team Manager, or taking full charge if on weekend night shifts. Accountability includes instilling, managing and monitoring safe working practices. Coordinating warehouse people and activities ensuring achievement of the workload to schedule and highlighting and solving where possible any issues.

The successful candidate will support warehouse employees in resolving system and hardware issues, collect statistics, complete short interval control information and support any physical activities such as tipping and loading to ensure schedule achievement and a DC Service level 99.7%. There is a need to ensure all reports are submitted accurately and on time as required.

Responsibilities:

1. Support the Warehouse Team Manager or take charge in coordinating warehouse activities on the shift

2. Collect data, plot shift performance and identify any issues that may hinder the schedule achievement, be able to motivate people to meet KPI's.

3. Liase with the Warehouse Planners to ensure work is appropriately scheduled according to resources available, and discuss any issues with the Warehouse Team Manager

4. Help warehouse employees resolve any issues relating to the system, hardware or interpreting warehouse activities such as customer information.

5. Where necessary to achieve the schedule, carry out warehouse activities that you have been appropriately trained in to support the shift team

6. Ensure any surplus temporary labour is documented and deploy them on value adding activities such as cleaning, recycling and sorting pallets

7. Document performance throughout the shift and ensure this is available for shift handover

8. In the event of Warehouse Team Manager absence, or when you are in charge you will lead the team to complete the schedule, safely, to time and at lowest possible cost.

9. This includes all aspects of leading a team, including all deployment and communication activities within the shift. Also resolving any clocking issues, processing Returns to Work, and carrying out investigations if any incidents occur which cause loss, harm or damage to assets or employees.

Required experience:

1. Must have documented eexperience of working in a warehouse

2. Be PC literate experience with Microsoft Office especially Excel, Inventory and Warehouse Management Systems

3. Demonstrated experience of supervising a team

4. Excellent planning, organising and problem solving skills

5. Articulate and effective communication skills

6. Able to make quick and sound decisions in a fast moving environment

7. Prioritising your own time to achieve daily targets and managing the incidentals

8. Must be a team player who is capable of working on their own initiative

9. Must be flexible in approach to work and shift patterns

10. Fluent in written and spoken English and numerate
