Working with special needs students is a rewarding career in which you guide, support and comfort students who may find everyday tasks challenging. I am looking for a teaching assistant who has the compassion needed to perform this role at an SEN school situated in the Farnham area.

This specialised school is designed to meet the educational, behavioural, care and therapeutic needs for children aged 6 - 19 years. The children have a range of special needs including Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) and Autistic Spectrum Conditions (ASC), and require an assistant who can make a difference to the quality of their learning experience.

Your responsibilities will include:

* Encouraging students to become independent
* Working directly with students, engaging them in discussion and encouraging them to get involved
* Providing teaching assistance to the teacher defined according to weekly/daily/sessional planning of the teacher
* Delivering group and/or individual activities, planned by the teacher
* Working individually with students to develop their learning progression
* Supporting the general well being of learners within the structure of the school
* Monitoring and evaluating students' learning under the guidance of the teacher
* Assisting teachers in the use of relevant management strategies to ensure a purposeful environment for teaching and learning
* Supporting all learners in all curriculum areas

The ideal candidate will possess the following:

* Own means of transport (essential)
* The ability to work with learners that have various learning difficulties
* An understanding of students with special needs
* Willingness to learn and build relationships with learners
* Confidence in supporting group work in different educational subjects
* The ability to work as an individual and as a part of the team
* Flexibility in their approach to education
* Experience working in SEND settings (desirable but not essential)
