Systems Accountant

We are working on a fantastic opportunity for a Systems Accountant to join a profitable and growing organisation as part of the Finance Systems team taking ownership of group finance systems. The successful applicant will join this organisation at an exciting time as they embark on a number of large and interesting system projects.

This is a project-focused role working on a programme of transformation within the Finance department. Through closely partnering with Finance and IT the role will seek to coordinate and leverage company assets and resources to design and deliver both improved business processes and a short term finance systems improvement strategy.

You will be one of the "go to" persons within the function for guidance, advice and support on financial processes and business systems

This role will suit an individual who enjoys being the "glue" between finance and IT but who equally enjoys being hands-on.

Key responsibilities of the Systems Accountant will include:

System Administration
-Become an expert user of the business ERP, consolidation and analysis systems both procured and internally developed and act as a first point of contact for any queries incoming from the finance teams and the wider business
-Manage and maintain financial setups and parameters
-Oversee and manage the chart of accounts usage
-Oversee and manage changes to the chart of accounts and business structure
-Ensure appropriate change management and approval processes are in place and followed

Projects
-Support the finance teams with the transition of new system and processes
-Undertake requirements gathering and user consultation sessions to gain background project information
-Work with ICT Business Analysts to process map finance processes to aid in the delivery of best possible solutions
-Provide a bridge between the Finance and ICT teams to best facilitate end project solutions.
-Work on improving existing systems by studying current usage practices & make recommendations for improvements
-Manage and facilitate effective User Acceptance Testing for new & updated systems, fixes & enhancements
-Facilitate business process workshops/training

General Financial Function Support
-Identify and provide improvements to existing Excel documents used to manage the business on a day to day basis.
-Provide VBA modelling knowledge to automate repeated manual processes and debug/improve existing code where required
-Understand and document reporting and dashboard requirements of the team and drive the development of the functionality in conjunction with the ICT Department

The ideal System Accountant will possess the following attributes/skills:
-Excellent Excel skills to advanced formulas, VBA and PowerPivot
-Database and management skills
-Reporting and analytical system knowledge
-Excellent stakeholder management skills
-Familiarity with accounting practices
-Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
-SQL (or equivalent) knowledge
