This small school in the Arundel area are searching for a Teaching Assistant to add to their team working with children between the ages of 11 and 16. Working with a core team the ideal candidate will be able to support the children's functional skills whilst building a trusting relationship. The students at this school have social, emotional and mental health challenges meaning that the ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate patience and empathy.

Key Responsibilities:
* An understanding of each students' individual health plan
* Liaise with teacher to ensure all learners are supported
* Engage with the learners to keep them on task
* Assist during break duty, outings and class activities
* Deliver 1:1 or small group focused lessons when required
* Helping the teacher to set up lessons
* Contributing to continued academic and social growth of each child
* Adapting teaching style to ensure it reaches every child


Requirements:
Please note that candidates who do not meet the essential criteria for this role will not be considered.


Essential:
* Previous experience working with SEMH students (child or/and adults) is essential
* Ability to look after the student's physical, social and emotional
* Good maths and English skills
* 2 references from the last 5 years (1 must be a full child-based safeguarding reference)


Desired:
* An up-to-date DBS on the update service
* A job history for the last 10 years
* Patience and flexibility to deal with changes that may present themselves due to the nature of the learners
