While COVID-19 remains a major challenge in many places, the world has come a long way from a year ago. Yet, as a global community, we have more work to do. That’s why I’m pleased to participate in this year’s UN High Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development – Business and Industry Major Group meeting on July 7.
The event comes at a critical time as many organizations and policy makers contemplate next steps in a digitally accelerated economy. The Business and Industry Major Group is an influential body providing guidance from the private sector, and the panel on Wednesday will surely offer valuable insights on strengthening employment, bridging the widening digital skills gap and innovating the workplace.
The pandemic has structurally transformed the world of work, and we must build on these changes. In recent years, Randstad has focused on four sustainable development goals: decent work and economic growth, reduced inequalities, gender equality and quality education. I believe these underpin an inclusive and prosperous labor market. At this critical moment, we have an excellent opportunity to expedite these goals.
