It’s been nearly a year since the outbreak of the pandemic, and as a chief executive, I am most concerned about our employees’ welfare. I’m confident most of my peers share in this sentiment. So when the results of our semi-annual Workmonitor report were released this week, it was encouraging to see a strong majority of workers around the world feel their company stands behind them.
In our survey of nearly 30,000 working adults in 34 markets, 71% reported feeling emotionally supported by their employers. To me, this is very important. After an unprecedented year of stress and uncertainty, employers should be a source of strength and compassion.
Our research also revealed other insights. With so many people now working from home, what is the appetite for returning to offices when it’s totally safe? As it turns out, quite a bit. Only 14% want to be home all the time; a plurality (35%) prefer a hybrid schedule instead. I presume most of us crave the social interaction and the structure an office provides. I know I do.
