A year after the global economy went into lockdown, we continue to see encouraging signs of recovery. This is apparent from the progress of many public health measures, the way we have pivoted to new ways of work, and the increased hiring we see across many markets. The clearest indicator, to me, can be found in Randstad’s Q1 results, which affirmed the positive momentum we saw at the end of last year.

We’ve all played a role in adapting to a challenging environment, and the progress being achieved is a testament to the resilience of today’s agile society. I am especially proud of our #newways program that helped many get back to work safely while meeting the evolving needs of our customers. Some of those who found new jobs did so at Randstad, as we added 1,000 new colleagues during the quarter.

Compared with the same time last year, we finished Q1 with a strong performance, resulting in a revenue gain of 6.4% and an improved EBITA margin. Empowered by our hard-working and agile workforce, we helped businesses find the right talent at the right time. Continued investments in people, processes and technology also position us well to continue to lead in the dynamic world of work. I invite you to learn more about our Q1 results in the press release.
