Your new role:


In your new role you will be responsible for:

  • Review development proposals or sea dumping applications and research their environmental impacts in accordance with legislative obligations and in consideration of associated policies.
  • Develop and maintain a sound understanding of the context and operation of relevant legislation and policy frameworks.
  • Prepare accurate and high quality briefing material to inform supervisors and decision-makers on the environmental impacts of development proposals, and advise on regulatory decisions.
  • Support stakeholder engagement through a range of written and face-to-face activities.
  • Undertake miscellaneous activities, including drafting Ministerial correspondence and ad hoc briefing material.
  • Contribute to quality assurance and process improvement activities.


The ideal candidate:

  • Ability to present complex information in a straightforward manner to different audiences, focusing on key points using unambiguous and persuasive language, in both written and oral form
  • Works collaboratively and cooperatively, establishes and maintains productive working relationships to achieve individual, team and/or organisational objectives.
  • Applies analysis and reasoning to consider issues and solve problems, generates practical solutions, and seeks innovative solutions.
  • Draws on experience and available information to make accurate and timely decisions and overcome challenges, using initiative to implement innovative outcomes.
  • Identifies goals, objectives, methods and resources for completion of short-term organisational outputs and to plan strategically for long-term organisational aims, plans for contingencies, understands interrelationships and is alert to the broader operating environment.
  • Knowledge or experience in one or more of the following:

    • processing complex applications in accordance with legislation
    • project management
    • administrative support
    • legislation or policy implementation environmental assessments under relevant legislation (such as the EPBC Act 1999, State or Territory environmental legislation etc)
