Your new role:

In your new role you will be responsible for:

  • Under limited direction, capture PFS collection material and perform tasks related to the Memorial’s digital preservation workflows including;

- Inspect, test and quality assure archival image and film material
- Splice motion picture film as required for preparation for digital capture
- Copy material for preservation
- Operate and maintain GoldenEye 4 film scanner and associated equipment
- Maintain and monitor associated consumable stock material.
- Maintain and update accurate statistical data on preservation activities.

  • As directed liaise with Conservation, Collection Coordination and Multimedia teams to deliver digitised material within approved timeframes and maintain appropriate documentation of the process in Memorial systems (MICA and Piction).
  • Ensure the safe and correct packing, transporting and unpacking of a broad range of film material.
  • Support project priorities, participate in team meetings and contribute to maintaining a safe, healthy productive workspace. Participate in training processes
  • Assist in the training and development of other staff, contribute and assist to maintain a safe, productive and healthy work environment.

The ideal candidate:

  • Demonstrated ability to use and digitise at preservation level a broad range of historical image and film material using museum standard equipment. The ability to splice motion picture film as required for preparation for digital capture
  • Demonstrated high level ability and skills to perform quality control software tools including working experience using and implementing agreed colour management and preservation workflows.
  • Demonstrated experience including associated calibration, process control and maintenance in a Pro-lab production environment, (scanner calibration of Golden Eye 4 including monitor calibration)
  • Demonstrated high level capacity to deliver project outcomes and business priorities in a project driven environment, including the use of Memorial business systems or similar (Content Ordering systems, Digital Asset Management systems and MS office applications).
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively while working productively and harmoniously in a team environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to use initiative and sound personal judgement as appropriate to this level and a commitment to the APS Values and Code of Conduct.
