About the role:

There is an opportunity to work with one of the largest and most reputable Federal Government departments as an APS5 Environmental Impact Assessment Officer. The position is for 3 months with the possibility of extensions based on performance.

Your experience:

To be successful in this role you will need the relevant ecological/environmental management experience. A degree in an Environmental or Ecological Science field and a base-line or above clearance are an advantage but are not necessary.

Your duties will include:

1. Review complex development proposals and research their environmental impacts in accordance with legislative obligations and in consideration of associated policies.

2. Develop and maintain a sound understanding of the operation of relevant legislation and policy frameworks.

3. Prepare accurate and high quality briefing material to inform supervisors (and ultimately decision-makers) on the environmental impacts of development proposals, and to advise on regulatory decisions.

4. Support stakeholder engagement through review of submissions and other liaison with stakeholders as required.

5. Provide general administrative support, including fielding telephone and e-mail enquiries, drafting Ministerial correspondence, coordinating briefing materials and other secretariat support as required.

6. Comply with quality assurance practices including review of documents and contribute to process improvement as appropriate.
