Located in a cosy Government department in the heart of the city, you will feel right at home working with this incredible team of people.

We're on the hunt for an amazing Public Engagement and Event Officer to join a Government organisation that focuses on our Aboriginal and Torres Straight Islander community.

This position runs from August 2018 – February 2019 (6 months) and is a full time commencing immediately.

You’ll be joining a team that is multi-disciplinary that provides communications and public engagement services, support and strategic advice across the enterprise including but not limited to event management, media and multimedia production, social media management, brand management and design, andf web developing and publishing. And that’s just the team you’ll be working in!

What will you be doing in this role? Glad you asked! Here’s a taste of your new role as Public Engagement and Events Officer will include:

  • You will manage the Visitor’s Schedule, liaise with external stakeholders and coordinate the team’s tours with relevant program areas
  • You will assist the Events Coordinator with annual public programming (ie conferences, cultural events)
  • You will liaise with key internal and external stakeholders and manage service providers
  • As required, you will coordinate other events including logistics and scheduling
  • You will manage bookings of the Government departments public space
  • You will be proficient in event management and online systems and financial management
  • You will show sensitivity and respect for different cultures
  • You will respond positively to differences and communicate respectfully
