Our client, a Federal Government Agency, is seeking an experienced Communications specialist to lead, develop and deliver communication strategies for the transition of Victoria into this agency’s federal scheme. This role is a 12 month contract commencing in January 2019, and has a possible extension period after 12 months.

The role of the Assistant Director of External (Strategic) Communications is diverse with key duties including but not limited to:

  • Partnering with business areas to understand their communication needs, and providing strategic and considered advice to support delivery of Corporate Plan aspirations and objectives.
  • Leading/contributing to the regular development, delivery and review of strategic communications content
    through established internal communication channels.
  • Contributing to printing and cataloguing of the organisations core printed communications products and
    enhance existing processes and procedures.
  • Developing and managing the implementation, tracking and measurement of communications strategies, keeping them on time and within budget.
  • Preparing high-quality, clear and accessible written content that meets the needs of participants and other audiences and aligns with the organisations brand.
  • Scanning and interpreting a complex government and social landscape to identify and mitigate reputational risks associated with communication activities.
  • Establishing and maintaining strong internal and external networks to facilitate development and delivery of effective, targeted and timely communication activities.
  • Analysing communications outcomes and leading discussions within your team on how to build improvements into future activities.
  • Sharing knowledge to extend capability within the Communications Branch and build communication capacity in business areas.
  • Fostering creativity and innovation in content creation across a range of channels, embedding best practice and new skills in your team.

Communication Strategy
