This role as a Business Data Analyst is a great opportunity to showcase your skills working with the below technology. It is a 5 month contract at an exciting government department sitting in the business support team.

The objective of this role is to contribute to the design, development and maintenance of reports and interim tools to improve data security, integrity and quality of the workforce management systems utilising a sound business knowledge base together with strong technical and analytical skills.

Start no later than 31st of July in Brisbane CBD.

  • MUST be experienced in Microsoft SQL
  • A good understanding of large and complex data environments
  • Must have good communication skills
  • Preferred experience SQL server integration services
  • Preferred experience collating information in a clear presentable format for example easy to read Dashboards

Your role:

- Adhere to defined service quality standards, health and safety policies and procedures relating to the work being undertaken in order to ensure high quality, safe services and workplaces.

- Perform analysis of payroll data from various sources, including SAP HR, Workbrain, Serviceline / Streamline to support the improvement, efficiency and effectiveness of payroll processes/decisions within QH.

- Proactively ensure high quality reporting is provided to clients by documenting risks identified during analysis and progress using agreed escalation processes together with options and recommendations for risk mitigation

- Design, develop and maintain reports to meet specific business requests using various tools including SpinifexIT Easy Reporter, Microsoft SQL and data visualisation products to provide quality information and performance reports.

- Following the established development framework, undertake development of reports and interim tools including creating effective knowledge management practices to support the consistent execution of business processes.

- Acquire and maintain a broad working knowledge of the departments systems including FAMMIS and Decision Support Systems to support payroll process investigations and financial reconciliations.

- Actively contribute to the team’s performance objectives through the achievement of personal KPIs and responding effectively to competing and changing work priorities.

- Collaborative with team members and other business areas to meet legislative, audit, data security and regulatory timeframes.

- Design, develop and facilitate effective communication and engagement with stakeholders to ensure quality customer service.

How you will be assessed?

You will be assessed on your ability to demonstrate the following key capabilities, knowledge and experience. Within the context of the responsibilities described above under ‘Your role’, the ideal applicant will be someone who can demonstrate the following:

- Sound working knowledge of workforce management and payroll-related information with specialist focus in requirements analysis, data analysis, reports design, development and delivery as well as facilitating and supporting effective knowledge management practices.

- Working knowledge of, or an ability to rapidly learn, specialised information technology tools and software products typically employed in reporting, business intelligence or application/relational database environments (such as MS SQL, MS Reporting Services and MS Office suite including MS Excel, MS Word and MS Access, including VBA) with an aptitude to embrace and employ emerging contemporary software technologies and tools.

- Demonstrated sound working knowledge of management systems including SAP HR, Workbrain, and Serviceline / Streamline (or similar systems) to ensure a thorough understanding of data issues and to improve the payroll processes, quality of payroll data and reporting.

- Proven analytical, conceptual and problem solving skills with the ability to multi-task within agreed priorities, timeframes and accountabilities.

- Comprehensive knowledge of awards, legislation, policies and procedures relevant to payroll to ensure appropriate knowledge and expertise to undertake complex reporting and associated data quality reviews.

- Proven effective consultation, facilitation and oral and written communication skills, and an ability to work both autonomously and in a team to achieve agreed outcomes.
