Their future is strong and the growth journey is exciting band to help underpin this growth and ensure a strong culture of risk and compliance we are seeking applications from experienced Risk leaders to be considered for the role of Chief Risk (CRO)

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer and the Board, the CRO is responsible for developing and maintaining a risk management framework for the organisation and related entities. A key focus of the role will be the assessment of needs and the implementation and maintenance of risk processes and systems. The CRO will also build a risk and compliance culture and support management teams in understanding and owning risk and compliance matters in a meaningful and pragmatic manner.

As a member of the organisations senior management team, the position will align with the overall performance of the organisation , the service provided to members, together with employer, cost and investment outcomes.

As the CRO you will get involved in the following activities :

  • Ensure the Risk Management Framework is fit for purpose
  • Provide active coaching, guidance and support throughout the organisation to effectively implement the Risk Management Framework
  • Conduct, identify and report to the CEO and Board on key risks and emerging risks arising from the business units or through strategic risk assessments
  • Monitor the impact of the Board’s business planning on the risk management framework
  • Monitor compliance with SPS220 and any other relevant legislative requirements
  • Monitor changes in business/operations and consequent impacts on the business risks
  • Prepare reports for the CEO and Board of directors on any risk matter

To be successful in this role you will hold a relevant tertiary qualification (law and/or management) . Your experience in risk management will preferably within the financial services sector. You will be able to demonstrate significant experience conducting risk assessments within multiple categories of risks eg operational, investment, governance, strategic, external and outsourcing. Additionally, you will have demonstrated knowledge of contemporary risk management models, developing KRI’s, assessing control effectiveness, and, developing management and board reporting. In addition to you ability to work with the Board on key factors.
