Database Administrator

6 month initial contract

Parramatta

A 6 month initial contract opportunity for an experienced database administrator in Parramatta to start immediately.


Responsibilities:
• Provide Database Administration, maintenance and support covering Oracle, MS SQL and Postgres.
• Ensure the IT solutions are technically and functionally successful to meet business requirements, and complies with the companies technical standards including those of IT Security and change control.
• Develop and update documentation, including design, operational, build, handover or any other documentation as required.
• Resolve technical problems whilst providing prompt and appropriate feedback about status and escalate critical issues where required.
• Liaise and negotiate with vendor support engineers including escalating unresolved system issues to appropriate vendors.
• As required, apply and document vendor and internally developed software changes through the non-production environments and into production.
• Automating the routinely repeated works through DBMS jobs/scripts.
• Participate in an on-call roster when required.

Hours of work:
• 40hrs/week, 8hrs/day
• Willing to work on Saturday/Sunday in lieu of taking day off during week when required.

Skills and Experience required:
• Hands on experience with Oracle 11g/12c, Microsoft SQL Server 2008R2/2012/2014. Experience with Postgres desirable, including relevant qualification or equivalent.
• Thorough knowledge of backups, restores, recovery models, database maintenance operations, DBCC commands, clustering, database mirroring/HA.
• Demonstrated skills, experience or knowledge of administering Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server across multiple virtual or physical hosts. Experience with Postgres slony and standby setup and maintenance would be an added advantage.
• Moderately developed interpersonal, influencing and negotiation skills with extensive experience engaging, collaborating and influencing stakeholders and customers to influence and achieve optimal business outcomes.
• Demonstrated commitment to providing high quality customer service and continuous improvement.
