Our client, a leading utility group based in Adelaide, South Australia has created a new position within their Standards and Performance team for a Equipment Engineer. This position is a critical component within the team, paying particular attention to Work Health and Safety; training services, field equipment and end users feedback and network management. The role will be offered as a casual contract for 6 months; however, an extension past Christmas is likely. The equipment engineer is responsible for the specification of equipment for use within client network including:

  • Specification, evaluation and introduction of new equipment into the client’s distribution network including substation, distribution and telecommunication assets to ensure innovation and continuous improvement to safety and functionality
  • Initiating and coordinating trails of new equipment and technologies
  • Proactively communicating relevant information on new equipment to end users and stakeholders throughout the trail and or introduction process

Key Objectives

Review the functional and technical requirements of the client equipment including specification development/review and tender evaluations to improving safety and functionality:

  • Recommend product substations and improvements within existing contracts
  • Investigate new technologies and industry trends in distribution equipment to improve safety, reliability and functionality including feeder automation and smart grid technologies; and
  • Assist wit rationalization of equipment and development of compatible units
  • Project management of various projects, trails, tender evaluations and investigations and providing technical support to customers.

Specific Role Requirements

  • Bachelor degree in Electrical or Mechatronic Engineering
  • A minimum of 3 years experience
  • Full drivers license
  • Some interstate/intrastate travel may be required
